Marin Museum of Bicycling and the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame (MMBHOF) are committed to maintaining your confidence and trust, and accordingly, maintain the following privacy policy to protect your personal information.

MMBHOF’s Commitment to Security

MMBHOF encrypts transactions which may contain personal and/or billing information online with strong security technology. Personal information is accessible only by MMBHOF staff or by MMBHOF contractors who are also bound to adhere to this policy as part of their contract with MMBHOF.

Personal Information that MMBHOF May Collect

MMBHOF collects the following types of personal information: names, postal and e-mail addresses, phone numbers and billing information. MMBHOF will collect additional information from those that apply for membership, some of which might constitute personal information, as well as personal information from individuals acting solely in a donor or sponsorship capacity.
For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Information related to these registrations with us can be stored in the following places:

  • Membership & donations database
  • Store purchases database
  • Event purchases database

MMBHOF does not collect or maintain information from those actually known to be under the age of 13, aside from family membership data, and no part of our site is structured to attract anyone under the age of 13.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you by contacting us at privacy@mmbhof.org. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How MMBHOF May Use Personal Information

Unless you withhold your consent, MMBHOF will use your personal information for the purpose for which it was submitted such as:

  • To reply to inquiries
  • To process billing and member requests related to program participation
  • To provide notices and in member record-keeping.
  • To create email campaigns and notices using Mailchimp. We use Mailchimp to manage our subscriber list. Their privacy policy can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

Our research may lead to the publication of aggregate demographic data but will not result in the reporting or publication of any personal information provided to us. At certain points where personal information is collected on our site, there may be a box where you may indicate you would like to be on a list to receive information about other MMBHOF programs and services and about ways to support the MMBHOF.

We may process information relating to our customer relationships, including customer contact information (“customer relationship data“). The customer relationship data may include your name, your employer, your job title or role, your contact details, and information contained in communications between us and you or your employer. The source of the customer relationship data is you. The customer relationship data may be processed for the purposes of managing our relationships with customers, communicating with customers, keeping records of those communications and promoting our products and services to customers. The legal basis for this processing is consent.

This means, while we build up our relationship with you, we may record information pertaining to our relationship in the form of private notes and tags about your interests. This data can be used to give trend analysis (e.g. how many people are requesting “X” and then we may use this data to prioritize our workload).
At any time you can add or remove your name from our mailing list by contacting us at privacy@mmbhof.org.

How Your Information May Be Shared

MMBHOF may share your personal information with our affiliates to compile bicycling statistics. Just as in any research we may do, MMBHOF research will not result in the reporting or publication of any personal information. MMBHOF never sells or rents personal information.
We will also release personal information under the following circumstances: Where release is required by law (for example, a subpoena) or regulation, or is requested by an agency for governmental investigative purposes or governmental proceedings; Where our records indicate a member may be engaged in fraudulent activity or other deceptive practices that a governmental agency should be made aware of, or to appropriate persons if a member’s communication suggests possible harm to others.

How Your Information Can Be Removed

If you would like to be removed from our databases, please email us with your request at privacy@mmbhof.org. Please note we do not verify the authenticity of the email request and if you attend one of our events or make a purchase from our website, you will automatically be re-added. You may request subsequent removals at anytime.

Help Us Keep Your Personal Information Accurate

If your personal information changes or you would like to review the personal information we have on file, please email us with the new information or your review request at privacy@mmbhof.org.

How to Lodge a Complaint

If you feel your information has been mishandled, you may submit a complaint to privacy@mmbhof.org. Our receipt of your complaint will set in motion the following process:

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and provide you a case number.
  • We will investigate the complaint and communicate our progress with you.
  • We will provide you with the results of our investigation to the fullest extent possible in keeping with the provisions of this Privacy Policy.
  • We will resolve the issue to your satisfaction whenever possible in keeping with the provisions of this Privacy Policy.

Computer Tracking and Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. MMBHOF uses cookies to provide easier site navigation and access to member only areas. You can still use the MMBHOF  website if your browser is set to reject cookies but you may not be able to login as a member. Our web site is not set up to track, collect or distribute personal information not entered by its visitors. We use cookies only to validate membership status and online status for the members-only areas of our site. Our site logs generate certain kinds of non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of visits to our site. This information is used for internal purposes by technical support staff to provide better service to the public and may also be provided to others, but again, the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.
