Last week we had a surprise guest roll through Fairfax—none other than Eben Weiss, aka Bike Snob NYC.
Bike Snob first burst into the blogosphere in 2007, focused mostly on the fads and absurdities of the then thriving fixie scene. More recently he has turned his attention to the wider world of bikes, including bikes with gears and fat tires.
His recent condensed history of mountain biking stimulated a bit of discussion in the comment section, and may have sparked the Snob’s spontaneous decision to travel west and sample the riding in Marin.
He had a good guide, and enjoyed our fire roads and vistas. And then he dropped into the museum for a visit, where he admired everything from the 1951 Bianchi Paris-Roubaix to The Red Rocker.
He was also quite pleased to discover his book on our shelves:
Granted, I don’t think there’s a bike-related book ever published that wasn’t in their library, so making it in there is basically the literary equivalent of finishing a no-drop ride, but I found it satisfying nonetheless.
Be sure to read Part One and Part Two of his visit to Marin. We hope he comes back again soon!
