Max Commencal has shaped gravity racing for more than four decades, first with Sunn and then with the company that carries his name. At Sunn he helped professionalize downhill as a sport, building a factory team whose riders included Nicolas Vouilloz and Anne-Caroline Chausson. In 2000 he founded Commencal Bicycles, which stayed committed to aluminum frames and gravity riding and produced the Meta, credited as one of the first enduro bikes.
Max’s eye for talent hasn’t faded. On the night he entered the Hall, the COMMENCAL/MUC-OFF team received The Summit trophy as the top downhill team of 2026. Its 19-year-old rider Max Alran was voted downhill Rookie of the Year.
